This policy covers the websites www.sdc-software.com and www.sdc-software.de. It describes what actually happens, rather than reserving rights we do not exercise.
1. Who is responsible
The controller under Art. 4(7) GDPR is Software Design & Consulting GmbH, Aufkirchner Straße 25a, 82069 Hohenschäftlarn, Germany, represented by its managing director Dr. Erich W. Schreiner. No data protection officer has been appointed. Under § 38 BDSG one is required only where at least twenty people are permanently engaged in the automated processing of personal data, where a data protection impact assessment under Art. 35 GDPR is required, or where personal data is processed commercially for the purpose of transfer or for market and opinion research. None of those applies here.
2. Visiting this website
The site consists of static pages. It is stored on Amazon S3 and delivered through the Amazon CloudFront content delivery network. The provider is Amazon Web Services EMEA SARL, Luxembourg, with whom we have a data processing agreement under Art. 28 GDPR. The data is held in the AWS eu-central-1 (Frankfurt) region; CloudFront is a global network and serves pages from a location near you.
Delivering a page necessarily involves your IP address, together with the usual details of a request (the URL requested, time, user agent, referrer). The legal basis is our legitimate interest in operating a working, secure website (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).
We do not keep access logs ourselves. CloudFront logging is not switched on for this site. Amazon processes connection data as part of operating and securing its network. Its parent company, Amazon.com, Inc., is based in the United States and states that it is certified under the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework.
3. Fonts, and what we deliberately do not load
The typeface of this site (Inter) is served from our own domain. We embed no Google Fonts and no other externally hosted font, so your browser makes no request to a third-party font server and your IP address is not disclosed to one.
That is the general rule here: loading a page on this site loads no content from any third party. Links to other websites (such as our products Leafbind and PrintFarmDesk) are only followed if you click them.
4. Analytics
There are none. This site runs no analytics, no tracking pixels and no third-party measurement of any kind.
5. Cookies
This website sets no cookies and uses no comparable storage to recognise you. There is accordingly no consent banner, because there is nothing to consent to.
Earlier versions of this site used a so-called service worker to cache pages in your browser for offline use. The current version removes that cache automatically on your next visit.
6. Contacting us by email or phone
If you write to us or call us, we process your details to deal with your request. The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR where it concerns a contract or steps towards one, otherwise our legitimate interest in answering enquiries (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). We keep correspondence for as long as needed to deal with the matter and to meet statutory retention duties.
7. Your rights
Under the GDPR you have the right of access (Art. 15), rectification (Art. 16), erasure (Art. 17), restriction (Art. 18) and portability (Art. 20), and the right to object to processing based on legitimate interest (Art. 21). Write to webmaster (at) sdc-software.com.
You also have the right to complain to a supervisory authority. Ours is the Bayerisches Landesamt für Datenschutzaufsicht (BayLDA), Promenade 18, 91522 Ansbach, Germany.

This page is updated when what the site does changes, and the date at the top says when.
